Monday, May 21:
Well, the movers showed up here this morning, and stuff's beginning to disappear from the house. Last Friday the packing crew was here all day, and since then we've been camping out of our suitcases and dining off of fine plastic plates and utensils. But unlike us, these guys seem to know what they're doing. And their backs are waaaay stronger!
Daisy's spending the day in time out -- generally taking it easy except to bark angrily whenever a mover dares cross her turf. But she's excited about the move, and can't wait to begin her road trip. Yesterday, in making sure that her travel crate fit in the car, she kept volunteering her services, and pronounced it as sublimely roadworthy. She's gonna be a good co-pilot!
By 4PM today, our house was all loaded up and out the door.
We took a final look around the old McLean Homestead. It was bittersweet, and kinda echo-y:
We waved goodbye, and hit the road, heading down to Raleigh, North Carolina. Washington DC gave us a "special"
send-off with one of its two-hour traffic delays on I-95 South. Ugh.
Expected ETD: early evening ... with luck.
