Last
night was with Robbyne's family in Raleigh, with a couple of good meals and a
bit of long-overdue sleep. We said bye-bye to Robbyne's Dad & daughter Lindsay and left Raleigh early in the afternoon.
We pointed the cars west, and nearly 300
miles later found ourselves at the home of our good friends Steve &
Sue, just north of Asheville NC. Steve & Sue are also DC ex-pats,
having left the Washington area two years ago. They moved to the town of
Weaverville, where every day they look out from their ridgetop to
incredible views in nearly every direction. They've traded the
day-to-day Washington DC routine for life with four goats, two cats, and a jackass
... hmmmm .... maybe not as big a shift from DC life as it may at first seem. That, good coffee,
company, and Internet connections made for a sublime way to spend a
day.
... and for those of you who
made the inevitable comment about whether Daisy was being strapped to
the roof of the car (and there were more than one of you!) .... well,
you just don't understand the dynamics of who's the boss in the family:
